It also works well if you only have an intermittent network connection because the definitions are stored offline, locally on the device. You can see your word history and revisit definitions, or make your own list of favourite words to help build up your vocabulary. The speech function helps provide the correct pronunciation.
Definitions include synonyms and antonyms which allows the dictionary to also serve as a thesaurus. Wildcard characters can be used to help with word games like crosswords and scrabble where only some of the letters are known, or you have to find an anagram, or with spelling. Then you can follow the links in the definition page to get more word definitions. As you type, Dictionary homes in on the word you are looking for. The home page contains a randomly selected word cloud which will pique your curiosity and help you improve your vocabulary, while the search box allows you to find specific words easily. The dictionary definitions are stored locally, and because it's ad-free there's no need for a network connection. Dictionary is ideal for both native English speakers and English learners or people studying the English language. The user can also select the hunt to edit it (and then upload it again, if desired).ĭictionary is a free offline English dictionary containing over 200,000 words and definitions and no ads.

While pressing one of the hunts in this list, the user is presented with the following options: Upload (which uploads the hunt to our servers, so that other players can download the hunt), Delete (the user can delete a hunt), Info (which lets the user know the name of the hunt to share with friends), and Make Playable (which adds this hunt to the list of "playable hunts"). The newly created hunt is then added to the list labeled "my hunts". Once the list is complete, back out of the create screen. To add stars to the list, press the lightning bolt and enter the required information. To create a hunt, press the lightning bolt icon, enter a name for the hunt and press the "save" button. The hunt will then be added to the list of "playable hunts".Ī user can also create scavenger hunts: this feature is unlocked through an in-app purchase. Once the hunt name is entered, the user can press the "Get Hunt" button to download the hunt from our server. To download a hunt, press the "+" button to enter the name of the hunt.

Points are awarded based on the invasion: identify a star earns two points, photographing them earns three more points, and getting their code earns five more points. The user can also approach the star and ask them to enter their secret code into the device (along the lines of asking for their autograph). Once a star is identified correctly (the names are case sensitive, and sensitive to spacing), the user can find the star and photograph them. Selecting an alias reveals clues to help identify a particular star. To play the game, a user is presented with a list of "stars" of the hunt (presented as a list of aliases). This app allows users to create and participate in scavenger hunts based on people.
